Job Description
The City of Naples, population 22,000, is located on the Gulf Coast of beautiful Southwest Florida, 35 miles south of Fort Myers, with easy access to the East Coast. City Hall is located just blocks from some of the country’s most dazzling beaches. Currently we are seeking a Fire Chief to join our exceptional team by performing highly responsible and comprehensive administration for the City’s fire operations and activities. Under administrative direction from the Chief of Police & Fire, this position functions as the chief fire official for the City and oversees all programs and services related toward the protection of lives and property from fire. The Fire Chief is responsible for the comprehensive planning and organization of fire functions including emergency management, fire operations, fire prevention, emergency medical service, fire code enforcement, and other related activities along with executive leadership and direction to an approximate 59 personnel under his/her charge. Requirements
This position requires a Bachelors degree in Public Administration, Fire Science, Business Administration, or a related field; Masters degree preferred; supplemented by a minimum of ten (10) years progressively responsible experience in firefighting or public safety functions of which five (5) years shall be in an administrative supervisory/managerial position; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. Florida State Firefighter certification and EMT certification required. Must possess a valid Florida driver license and maintenance of a driving record which meets or exceeds minimum City driving standards.

Job Description
Must have the physical, developmental and mental ability to perform job tasks, work efforts, responsibilities and duties of the job illustrated below:
MAJOR FUNCTION Paraprofessional work in rendering out of hospital life support functions, other emergency care and rescue services, including support and backup of fire service personnel at fire scenes, accidents, and natural disasters. Duties include the operation and maintenance of the ambulance.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
Responds promptly to all non-emergency and emergency calls, including all fire services calls involving structures and/or danger to life. Drives ambulance with due regard for the safety of all persons at all times. Assists in extricating trapped victims and transports sick and injured persons to treatment centers. Must adhere to physician’s instructions, protocol, and standing orders. Observes, records, and reports to physicians the patient's condition and reaction to drugs, treatments and significant incidents. When responding to an emergency call or while transporting a patient, driver may exercise the privilege set forth in chapter 316.051 (5) F.S. Secures patient from movement during ambulance trip and drives with due caution to avoid any unnecessary cause of motions that may be detrimental to the patient. Administers out of hospital emergency, fire rescue, medical care services, and advanced life support. Under supervision of EMS Medical Director or a physician, performs the following by protocol and standing orders; defibrillate a pulse less non-breathing patient, administers intravenous electrolyte or glucose solutions, surgical cricothyrotomy on adult complete airway obstruction, needle cricothyrotomy on pediatric complete airway obstruction, intra osseous infusion on the pediatric arrest/trauma alert patient, performs gastric/tracheal suction by intubation, endotracheal intubation, administers injections, documents controlled substance use, and performs other procedures as allowed by emergency medical service rules and regulations and/or by the EMS Medical Director. Operates radio communications with base station, hospital, etc. Prepares and completes required reports keeping information regarding patients confidential. Attends all staff meetings as required. Maintains and insures that all supplies are available in sufficient quantities as required to operate an emergency ambulance and that all equipment is operational.

Requirements
Graduate of an accredited high school or possess an acceptable equivalency diploma and possess a valid certification card as a Paramedic issued by the State of Florida Department of Health and must possess the following requirements:
A) Is at least 18 years of age
B) Certifies under oath that he/she is not addicted to alcohol or any controlled substance.
C) Certifies under oath that he/she is free from any physical or mental defect or disease that might impair his/her ability to drive an ambulance and perform his/her duties.
D) Has not, within the past three (3) years, been convicted of reckless driving or driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances and has not had a driver's license suspended under the point system provided for in F.S.S. 322.
E) Possess a valid American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support provider or instructor card.
F) Possess a valid Emergency Vehicle Operator Course Certification card or a recognized 16 hour course that is equivalent.
G) Must have a valid driver's license and be able to secure a valid Florida drivers license at the time of employment..

Firefighter/Paramedic - Fernandina Beach
Job Description
Protect life and property by performing fire fighting, emergency aid, hazardous materials, and fire prevention duties, at times under high levels of emotional and physical stress. Frequent contact with public requiring courtesy, discretion, and sound judgment. Work performed inside and outside in various weather conditions in and around potentially hazardous areas and conditions.

Requirements
Florida Firefighter certification as authorized by F.S.S. 633, Florida EMT certification, and Haz-Mat Technical Level state certification required. Must have Florida certification as a Paramedic; must obtain ACLS and BTLS certifications. Florida driver’s license required; must be certified Florida Apparatus Driver. High school diploma or GED required. Must successfully complete all medical and fitness requirements. Knowledge of street locations, geography, and types of construction in the City preferred. Excellent communication skills required. Ability to act effectively in stressful situations required. Ability to perform strenuous physical activities during emergency, training, or station maintenance activities for prolonged periods of time under conditions of extreme heights, intense heat, cold, or smoke required. Ability to drive fire apparatus safely under emergency conditions required. Skill in the use and maintenance of fire fighting equipment required.

Firefighter / Paramedic - Jefferson County
Job Description
●Responds to fire and rescue calls and performs patient care, fire suppression, rescue, and ventilation in compliance with the department’s SOPs and directives on a scheduled and unscheduled basis.
•Provides emergency medical care to patients under current protocols as authorized by the department Medical Director up to the individual level of certification.
•Assesses and coordinates the resources and personnel to facilitate safety and quality care for all patients.
•Safely operates ambulances and first response units within the guidelines set forth by the department.
•Promotes departmental policies, procedures, objectives, safety, infection control, and quality assurance programs.
•Follows written Standard Operating Procedures and verbal directives as applicable to emergency medical services for the department.
•Shall complete, or assure completion, and properly file required forms of the department.
•Participates in a quality assurance program through critiques and debriefings.
•Performs other work as required..

1. Age: Applicants must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age by the closing date.
2. Certification: Applicants must be currently certified as Fire Fighter / Paramedics by the State of Florida by the closing date.
3. Driver’s License: Applicants must submit a valid driver’s license from any state, provided that prior to appointment a valid Florida (Class E or higher) driver’s license is submitted to the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office Human Resources Director.
4. Visual Acuity: 20/50 each eye, separately without correcting lenses of any kind including contact lenses. With glasses, each eye should be corrected to 20/30. Depth and color perception must be within normal limits.
5. Convictions: Applicants must not have been convicted of any felony, or of a misdemeanor involving moral turpitude, perjury or a false statement, or have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States.Other Screening: Successful completion of a stringent background investigation, which includes a medical examination (including an EKG and chest X-Ray).
