Job Description
Duties Include:
Performs fire suppression as a team member and/or individually by manning hose lines, operating hand held fire suppression equipment, and carrying out related duties in emergency firefighting situations.
Performs emergency medical services on persons injured or ill according to National, State and Departmental guidelines at either an EMT or paramedic level depending upon certification.
Performs rescue functions to extricate victims from occupancies filled with heat, smoke, and toxic gases by entering occupancy and physically removing victims.
Performs rescue and extrication functions of victims involved in vehicular entrapments using specific hand and pneumatic equipment.
Performs salvage and clean-up functions as required at the conclusion of fire-related emergency scenes.
Maintains physical conditioning and physical stamina required to perform firefighting duties.
Performs routine inspections of personal safety equipment in order to ensure equipment is in optimum condition and promptly notifies superiors of deficiencies.
Attends classroom and drill ground training sessions in order to continuously update knowledge and skills required for effective work performance.
Communicates and interacts with co-workers and/or the public either collectively or on a person to person level to receive emergency instructions or relay emergency information.
Participates in Public Relations activities such as school demonstrations, safety demonstrations, etc., to promote the image of the Department as a public safety provider in the community
Performs clean-up and janitorial duties in stations to maintain a clean working and living environment.
Operates Fire Rescue Department emergency vehicles as required.
Performs other related duties as required.
Salary
Firefighter/Paramedic: $47,650 ($39,099 base salary + $5,577 paramedic incentive + * $1045 Scheduled FLSA OT).

BATTALION CHIEF
Job Order # 10254** This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. **
Must have the physical, developmental and mental ability to perform job tasks, work efforts, responsibilities and duties of the job illustrated below:
POSITION DUTIES: This is responsible administrative, managerial and technical work in planning, commanding, and coordinating department fire fighting, rescue and hazardous material activities on an assigned shift (40 or 56 hour) in a geographical area (battalion) of the county or at any county facility. An employee in this classification has responsibilities including, but not limited to, planning, directing, and coordinating fire fighting, rescue, and hazardous material activities; pre-fire planning and tactical survey functions; ensuring the effective, efficient use of apparatus, equipment and personnel in extinguishing fires, performing rescue, and dealing with hazardous materials or other emergency work; planning and coordinating public fire safety education activities. Work includes participation in the selection, development, placement, evaluation, counseling, promotion, training, safety and discipline of department personnel. Work involves an element of personal danger and requires working on extende
f personnel and may serve as instructor for specialized in-service training courses. Assists subordinate officers in coordinating the repair, maintenance, and cleaning of Fire Department fire facilities and fixtures, fire fighting and rescue equipment, and apparatus.

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited college/university with a two (2) year Associate Degree in Fire Administration, Fire Science, or other associated field of study, as determined by the Fire Services Director. Possession and maintenance of a State of Florida Firefighter certification is required. Must have a minimum of six (6) years of paid firefighting experience in an organized career fire department with at least three (3) years at or above the rank of lieutenant and have considerable, progressive experience in firefighting, hazardous materials, rescue, management, and emergency management. Employees hired after May 1st, 2003 must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician Certificate. Must have certification as a Florida State certified Fire Officer One and Pump Operator, Driver Engineer, or Apparatus Operator. Must have a valid driver's license and be able to secure a valid Florida driver's license at the time of employment.NOTE: Qualified candidates will be required to attend a Battalion Chief Assessment Process consisting of written and practical examinations. A free candidate seminar will be provided to explain the assessment process; date and location to be determined.

Job Description
This is supervisory and technical fire fighting work in directing the activities of a fire company on an assigned shift. An employee in this classification isresponsible for keeping all required station records and for scheduling the duties of subordinates. Tasks include the training of assigned personnel and observation of work at emergency scenes for evaluation purposes. Job Description
The City of Delray Beach, Florida, Fire-Rescue Department is accepting applications for the position of Plans Reviewer II. This is a full-time position with complete benefit package.This position involves technical work examining building plans and applications for compliance with fire and life safety codes, and preparing documents identifying code deficiencies. This is skilled, specialized work of varied difficulty combating, extinguishing and preventing fires; performing rescue and emergency medical services and/or performing special assignment duties in auxiliary service in support of the Fire Department's programs.

Specialized field work in the protection of life and property through inspections, investigations, public education, surveys.and firefighting.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
Inspects occupancies for fire code/ ordinance enforcement.

The City of Pompano Beach is now recruiting applicants who are Florida Certified Firefighters and who possess a Florida Paramedic certification. The Pompano Beach Fire/Rescue Department offers its residents a full complement of firefighting and emergency medical services, including ambulance service. The Department’s 194 employees (172 combat personnel) are assigned to six stations located throughout the city. Firefighters work a 24-hour shift with one shift on duty and two consecutive days off duty. Specialty units include a Fire Prevention Bureau, Hazardous Materials Team, Public Education Team and a Training Unit.
Salary
$43,548; $47,696 with paramedic duties. The staring salary for Firefighters is $43,548 annually which includes EMT pay. The top salary in grade is $58,361. Once assigned Paramedic duties, salary increases to $47,696 annually. Educational incentive pay, as required by the State, is also paid for completion of Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees. Firefighters are eligible for merit increases annually until reaching the maximum of the pay grade.
